The Riverside Patrol covers the neighborhoods of Riverside, Whittier Mill Village (including Vinings on the Chattahoochee), and a small portion of Bolton (Collins Drive and Collins View Drive/Parkview II). The Patrol is based on Community Oriented Policing and was organized to enhance police patrols already provided by APD. The Patrol adds another layer of protection for our residents and businesses, while creating a personal relationship between the Patrol officers and the community.  Since its creation in May 2008, the dedicated connection that the RNA officers have with the communtiy has helped make the community a safer place. 

The Patrol consists of three off-duty APD officers, who patrol in full APD uniform in both their private, unmarked cars and marked APD cars. The same officers have served the Patrol for many years and are very knowledgeable about the area. The number of patrol hours are based on how many subscribers we have. The time these patrol hours are executed is determined through crime analyses and is adjusted weekly, so subscribers get the best bang for their buck. The Patrol is funded through memberships, with all money allocated specifically for neighborhood patrols. The Riverside Neighborhood Association also holds fundraisers, with a portion of the profits going to the Patrol.
